Project Update

Vehicle: 1979 Cutlass
Motor: Chevy 305 + TPI
Application: Raced in Autocross

I am (still) running the MS1 on the version 3 code + my mod for fan control (ms2 is still in the box).
This winter I finally got around to installing a TPI setup!!! All I can say is what a difference vs. the tbi. On a whole It has been much easier to tune ... and I have the fuel map nicely dialed in now. It has been about 3 years total running the MS. With no problems other than a flyback meltdown when I was a rookie :-x.

Converting to TPI was the first major work I have done on the fuel injection setup since the initial install. The last 1.5yrs were primarily spent on frame/suspension work. Now thats its all installed im regretting my decision to put it off. For those of you considering a TPI swap I would strongly recommend it. While there is no noticiable increase in power there was a huge increase in drivability and predictability. There is a noticable difference in the mid to high end. Where the tbi would start to die off the TPI just keeps on pulling. A word of caution however. I paid only $125 for a complete setup and after replacing gaskets, cleaning, painting, flow testing injectors, getting a replacement bolt set, etc. I ended up spending close to $200 more and countless hours (if you have ever bead blasted you can appreciate how much time it can take).
