AC Cobra Replica

Post by Heribert »

Owner Jan F , MS installer Heribert

350 Cuin Chevrolet engine , originally with factory engine management.
Now ignition with aftermarket kit ( with fuelling also), distributorless.
Fuelling now by MS .
New system includes custom built intake system with 8 throttle bodies ,
made to look impressive . And they do, although a bit on the large area side.
Injectors good for up to 550 hp.

In all , a tricky setup to get going due to the large intakes , virtually no plenum volume and large injectors.
The fuelling part of the aftermarket system was not precise enough, neither in speed/density nor in alpha/n.

Installing MS made a very big difference, run in speed/density.

Car now runs and idles well , closed loop with NB lambda above 900 rpm.

The removal of the perfectly running original TPI was done to upgrade the optics of the engine bay.
Without MS the car was close to undriveable, with MS a real beauty.

After some mods to the vacuum system to get better brake booster function , car will be put on a dyno to compare with original performance

MS SW 2,99 , tuning with beta release of MegaTune, logging with MSLVV, everything works beautifully. Windows XP on a 800 MHz IBM laptop.
PCB and other parts homecooked .

Cobra really ready

Post by Heribert »

After a long and cold winter the AC Cobra is now ready and finetuned.
Runs really really well. Added advantage with MS is the option of setting decel cut to 20 %.
It also revs to 5600 rpm , which is whatthe camshaft supplier said it would , but never did before.
On the overrun from 3000 rpm down to idle it makes a wonderful sound
that scares the bejeesus out of all in the neighborhood!

With large injectors , 8 individual throttle bodies of 50mm the car runs like a dream .
Closed loop Oxy down to 700 rpm is no problem. Passed its smog test last week with 0,13% CO, spark plugs stay beautifully white .
All in all , a resounding victory!
