Basil Daham, 1988 VW Golf 2.0-16V ITB

Post by jassem99 »

Name: Basil Daham ;
Vehicle: 1988 VW Golf GTI 16V;
Engine: 1984cc, inline 4, 6A code Audi Engine, stock internals;
Injection: Toyota 4AGE 20V silvertop 42mm individual throttle bodies installed using fabricated adapter plate, Toyota 295cc injectors used;
Description: Stock Bosch coolant and intake temp sensors used, Toyota TPS, 4 window hall effect distributor sensor used for trigger, VB921 used on single VW coil.

MS v2.2 was used, with mods including flipping the opto circuit input as used by the VW community, and as outlined in schematic 2 here.

Connections:

pin 25 goes to hall signal
pin 24 +5V for hall
pin 29 launch control
pin 31 to coil

Using MSnS-E 29g, mapping was done using widebane, with the objective being 13-13.5 AFR at WOT and around 15 AFR everywhere else. The spark map is basically the same as a CIS-E spark map but advanced around 9 degrees. Car runs fine expect for some low rpm bucking which can be annoying. No noticeable increase in power compared to OEM long runner manifold. It's worth noting that barometric pressure is low (~86kpa) at the 3000ft elevation this car was tuned at.

Update:

ITB's removed. ABF intake manifold installed, along with Bosch 2 wire idle control valve. MSQ attached is for 18 AFR at cruise and 13ish at WOT. Open loop idle control (warm-up only). Dual maps.
