1987 VW Golf GT 2.0l 16v ABA/9A w/ wasted spark now Turbo

Post by steve12345 »

This is in a running proof of concept stage. In other words, it's ugly but it works!

Details:

Car
Originally an RD engine code 1.8l 8v CIS-E car

Engine
ABA 2.0l block, crank, and rods rebushed for 9A pistons.
9A Cylinder head w/ Autotech Sport Cams
9A oil pump and intermediate shaft, etc.
Head and block decked as necessary for flatness.
Compression should be around 9.2:1
ABF timing belt
7lb flywheel (oh what fun trying to keep it from stalling :) )
BBM fuel rail and dizzy block off
Adjustable 4 BAR FPR designed for Porsche 944 fit the BBM rail.
Accel EDIS style coilpack
Custom Magnecor 8.5mm EDIS - VW 16v plug wires
Bosch Platinum plugs
Custom hacked together air intake/filter

Megasquirt
MS1 on V3.0 board MSNS-Extra code 029y4
30lb/hr Accel High Impedence Injectors in G60 cups
ABA built-in 60-2 crank trigger wheel and VR sensor
OE Bosch 2 wire PWM IAC
Accel EDIS style coilpack
using the original CIS-E fuel pumps and relay
GM IAT and CLT sensors
Innovate LC-1 WBO2
Throttle body w/ TPS from Passat 16v automatic

I have about 1500 miles on it since I got the engine back in and MS running. No problems at all. I'm still tweaking the tables. I need to work on the warm up and afterstart enrichment. It idles at 900, and I got 26.5 MPG on the last tank, so I guess I'm not doing too bad.

Once I'm sure everything is right, I am going to strap on a T3 60 trim and start the tuning process over again.

TSEL was jumpered to VROUT and not VROUTINV. Fixed that.
Cam was 1 tooth off on the timing belt.

Lots more torque now!

No more miss. Idle is 900+/- 40 without closed loop iac.

Can't seem to get the 2 wire bosch iac to work right with closed loop. My pwm iac output seems to be inverted.

Switched to hires code a while ago. Helped a lot with idling on 50 lb injectors. Been using Megalogviewer VE analyzer to clean up the VE table. AFRs are a lot smoother now. It is very drivable. Still messing with the closed loop idle stuff.

11/21/08 .msq is attached
