vr6 supercharged msII v3.0 barely

Post by mike2coupe »

the motor is vw 2.8l vr6 12v supercharged 8psi running on megasquirt II code ver 1.0.2. pcb v3.0 using all stock bosch sensors. wasted spark driven from 3vb921's. pwm modification to drive throttle body for idle controll. 30# injectors 4bar pressure regulator. lc1 wideband.

starts and idles great runs awesome at low rpms but barely runs above 4k misses pings horribly

no I am not. its missfiring. missfireing means that the fuel is not burnt. so fresh oxegen goes out the exhaust. passing the oxegen sensor. making a lean reading.

So it appears your using the stock VR6 coilpack. Did you modify it and remove the power stage / ignitor module from it? Using VB921s you need to pull that out and attach to the coils directly, or it will give you issues around 4k rpm... Humm lol.

To clarify for anyone reading this that doesn't know, the VR6 OE coiplack has a built in ignitor module. Its actualy pretty easy to remove this module. If it still has a 5 position black plug, this it the module. Take the bottom plate off the coilpack and a black plastic cover. You will see 4 posts with nylocks on them. This is where you will now attach the coil controls to. You could leave the ignitor in there if you wanted to and just bypass it.
