Name: Nate Wolcott

Vehicle: 1980 BMW 635 CSi Euro

Engine: BMW M90 3.5L inline 6 SOHC

Injection: Port; Low-Z Bosch L-Jet

Description: MSII on a V3 board, added a relay in the harness to change main fuel relay line from (-) to (+). I'm not running spark yet, but look forward to doing that one of these days. Car runs okay so far, the L-Jet it replaced was running haywire because of a short in the ECU harness so it's tons better than that, but still not quite up to where the L-Jet was when working properly. I anticipate that will change as I continue to tune, haven't done more than drive it around the block yet. Thanks to Peter Florance for giving me a bunch of really helpful tips to get me up and running without explosions...

PS: that M90 isn't a typo, it really is a different block than the M30, very similar to the S38 engine but without the DOHC or individual throttle bodies. I don't suppose it makes much of a difference other than having much shorter stroke, higher compression and having every part come special order from Munich... :-P

Hi,

the M90 is a great engine! I own one too :D

I have it mounted in a e28 5 series but I use it only for track days. I am converting it to MS. Can you pleas supply me with your maps? So I can make a jump start!

Kind regards

Thom

Well, the trick is they're not properly tuned yet. I haven't got the low rpm high load part done (too lean there) and the higher rpm part is still oscillating somewhat (need to smooth the bins out). I've not put too much time into it recently because I'm waiting on a friend to drive around with me. I can give you what I've got so far, but it's primitive. Let me know what you want to do. What's your set up? Wideband 02 or not?

Cheers,
Nate Wolcott

Hi,

I am going to use the wideband most properly for setup, but because of race use, I guess O2 is not working most of the times. For Igition I am going to use Edis with wasted spark.

So if you can send me what you have so far, that would be great!

You can email me at hahne(at)xs4all.nl.

If I have some intersting data, I will send it as well.

Thanks for now,

Thom
