Vehicle: 1982 Yamaha XJ1100 Maxim

Engine: 1102cc, air cooled, in-line 4, naturally aspirated.

Injection: Individual 38mm TBI’s from a 2004 Suzuki GSXR600. I replaced the Yamaha ignition system with a General Motors DIS unit from a Chevy Caviler, and installed the MegaSquirt'nSpark-Extra software.

Description: In February '06, I decided to replace the carburetors on an '82 Yamaha XJ1100 Maxim motorcycle with MegaSquirt’s V3.0 electronic fuel injection (EFI) computer and also upgrade the ignition system. The results were amazing; my mileage when from 32 mpg to 44-47 mpg, the bike starts easier and runs great. I built a website to document the project, Stan’s XJ1100 Fuel Injection Project. I fine-tuned the VE fuel table by strapping on a laptop and riding; making MegaTune logs and using the MSTweak3000 and the MegaLog Viewer. (Very nice tools)
