1991 240sx Drift Car KA24DET-24+1 Trigger Disk, vid

Post by 240will »

I finally got my car running using MS to control fuel and spark.
I had originally been using the MS to just control fuel so that I could get the hang of tuning( which I strongly recommend doing). Then I bolted on a sr turbo and tuned at 7psi. I'm currently running a SR20DET stock t25 turbo at 11psi. Next winter I'm planing on switching to a t3/t4, also changing the cams, and valve springs out. My car is going to be set up as drift car as well as a daily driver. My goal as far as hp goes is 350-400whp, with a good usable power band.

(Set up)
(Engine)
KA24DE-T
supertech pistons and rings
Eagle H beam connecting rods
Clevite bearing
ARP main studs, rod studs, and head studs
Felpro head gasket
Stock head for right now

(Turbo)
sr20-t25 11psi
Cxracing FMIC kit
HKS SBOV

(ECU)
My board is a v3.57: From (http://www.diyautotune.com).
Firmware:MS2/Extra Release 2.0.1
Planing to upgrade soon.

(ign)
I'm using my stock coil with a MSD 6al box to control dwell.
I'm also using a 24+1 trigger disk (http://www.triggerdisc.com) works very well. You need to have a .1uf capacitor on the 2nd trigger input otherwise the injectors make enough noise to give the MS a false trigger, you will loose your RPM signal for a second, and not be able to get your car started.

(fuel)
Stock SR20DET 370cc injectors.
300zx fuel filter
Walbro 255

(wide band)
I am using a JAW wide bad afr meeter (http://www.14point7.com/Widebands/JAW_1_03/JAW_1_03.htm)
I bought it for $115 shipped (with gauge). It works great, the only down side to it was that it took one month to get and it doesn't have a case, so you would have to custom make one, and you also have to make a wiring harness for it. Other than that it is great. I would recommend it to anyone that is going down the route of the MS.

This is what the wiring looks like on my board, I am able to get my car to start and running; however, I am running into some issues where after the car has been out of ASE for a wile it will start leaning out to the point where the car will stall. I am going to try to go to the latest beta code to see if it will help.

My board is a v3.57. I hope that this will help people with the wire up.

I have had a lot of help form KAPower, and the people from (http://www.diyautotune.com)

Thank you very much for that. I'd been waiting for someone to update with a picture of this stuff. :yeah!: I just need to try to decipher this so that i can translate it over to my V3.0 board. I have a 4G63 wheel in the dizzy right now that i'd like to use just to get it going.

Did you short out the 1k resistor on the ms2 card when you did the cap mod for your secondary circuit?

Not exactly sure, I was having this issue where after around 15 minuets or so of the car running the AFRs would get so lean to to point were it would stall. I wasn't able to make any adjustment to keep the engine running, I went as far as setting my ve# to 200-250 at 30kpa and 1000rpms, still couldn't keep it running. I sent the unit back to diyautotune and they said that they replaced the injector driver. Just got it back and started tuning it, everything is going good, real easy to tune with the veanalyzer. Hopefully all my problems are solved.

I thought you were talking about the problem that I was having. But no I did not short out the 1k resistor on the ms2 card when I did the cap mod for my secondary circuit.

Update
Car has been running good, I've been taking it to drift events and it seems to be working out just fine.

Here's a vid of Jon and me drifting, Jon is the first car I'm the second.
