Jesse Ransom 1970 BMW 2002
Vehicle: 1970 BMW 2002
Engine: 2.0 liter, I4
Injection: Port injection using modified 1981 320i stub manifold, 1985 318i fuel rail, Suzuki GSXR throttle bodies, 1995 325i fuel pump, Volvo 240 turbo injectors (Bosch 0 280 150 357, 300cc/min), homemade runners to connect stub manifold to TBs.
Description: It's definitely a success. While I still have some fine tuning for drivability and fuel efficiency, it's already got better and more linear throttle response than it had with the Weber 32/36 DGV it replaced, and more low end torque. The stock cam is the limiting factor on the top end, though the torque curve now holds on for about 700 rpm longer before really tapering off. Horsepower is up from 91 to 98, torque remains the same at 106 (all at rear wheels) but is over 100 ft-lb by 2000 rpm and doesn't really drop away under until almost 5200 rpm (though if you do the math you'll see it is back under 100 lb-ft by 4850, but only decreasing slowly). If I move to Street Mod from Street Prepared, it should now be able to take full advantage of a stouter cam than the current stocker.
